Does Social Media Help Connect People?

Social Medias. Connecting people

In my opinion social medias actually do help people connect and be social. It allows you to talk to people and post photos of things you do. When using social media you can talk to friends on the other side of the world so you can talk anywhere as long as you have Internet. Social media apps can also be downloaded onto mobile phones and tablets so you can be connected with friends on the go. Social media does benefit people’s connections but some people tend to misuse these sites.

Things that these people do are they might accept people they don’t know, they might plan to meet up with strangers. One bad thing about social media that is currently happening all around the world is cyber bullying. People cyber bully because it is much easier to do. While on the internet you could be a big tough guy or a martial artist if you wanted to and you could cyber bully someone else. You are behind a computer and no one can know your true identity.

But if you use social media correctly it can greatly benefit your social life and allows you to talk to friends anywhere. Social media broke the barrier of having to see people face to face. It’s a handy app!

GoPro Sur Attachments

GoPro Attachments for Surfing

Surfboard Pad – The surfboard pad is your regular standard surfing GoPro kit. It should be placed on the nose of your board so that you can get to the GoPro much easier and it won’t be in the way. With the surfboard pad you can place the GoPro facing you or the other way. This attachment is easy to use because it’s easy to reach and can be accessed easily. The problem with this shot is if you’re not in a barrel the shot doesn’t look that great. The surfboard pad is mainly used for barrel shots. That’s why when you see professional surfing footage from a GoPro that is placed on the nose of a board, the surfer will most likely be in a barrel.

Helmet Attachment – This attachment can produce some great shots because it aims wherever you look at. This attachment might be better for waves that don’t barrel, but if the wave does barrel it would probably have to be big so the GoPro could fit into it. Problems with this attachment are that it’s hard to reach. You might need to have some experience with the GoPro so that you know where the buttons are and their corresponding feature. If you don’t know too well you might have to take off your helmet every time you want to press a button which can be quite time consuming or can even cause you to miss a wave. Another reason why the helmet attachment looks bad is because… well to put it simply you will look dorky.

Chest Strap – The chest strap can make some really cool shots. It can be used for all kinds of waves and can is easy to access. If you know where the buttons are on the GoPro and what they do it should be easy to use, if not then you might need a bit more experience. The problem with the chest strap is that it might get in the way of your paddling. If you kept your back upright every time you paddle, you might come in from the surf with a very sore back. I have only seen videos of the GoPro when using a chest strap but once when I was surfing I saw a man using one and I thought he was wearing a bikini, people might give you funny looks in the water!

Wrist Band – The wrist strap is a “handy” little tool. It can produce some really nice shots but I would recommend it more for barrel shots but it can also be used on non-barreling waves if you can pull some cool tricks. The wrist Band attachment is a hard one to use because if you want a good shot you need to keep your arm in a position so the GoPro can get a nice shot. That’s why its easier to use it in a barrel because naturally your arm would be in a position that’s great for filming with the wrist strap. While if you used the wrist strap on small waves and do snaps or airs, you use your arms to quickly do a trick and the camera will shake, you wont be able to see much.

How To Set Up A GoPro

How to set up a GoPro
The GoPro has a quick and easy setup that is very durable and safe. For this set up I’m doing is on a surfboard. The GoPro has four steps to get it set up. For the first part what you want to do is clean up the area where you want to put your GoPro, Make sure there are no pressure dings or little bits of wax on the board. A easy way how to take off wax is to dip a hand towel in hot water and spread the water around the area, then use a wax comb and take off the wax. The next step is to put on the GoPro sticker where the GoPro attaches.

Next is the GoPro string sticker. It’s the little sticker that looks like a triangle and has a loop on it. It’s where you attach the string of your GoPro to for extra securement. Fit it into the first sticker so it becomes a full circle.

Next is to attach your GoPro. Before putting it into water it is a good idea to check the rubber lining on the inside of your GoPro. Even a grain of sand or a hair can cause a leak!

Now we want put the string of the GoPro through the little triangle shaped sticker pad. Put your GoPro through the loop causing it to be tied on. Next slide the GoPro into the sticker pad, make sure you hear it click! Next is to put the rubber fail safe at the back of the part where you clipped your GoPro. It should fit perfectly. Make sure your GoPro is closed properly in case of any leaks. Your GoPro should be set up and ready to go.

A good idea is to buy a GoPro buoy. It’s good to have especially when using it in water and when surfing. It acts as a last resort, if your GoPro does detach from the sticker pad the buoy will allow it to float up to the surface. You’ll have to find it now but it’s better than it sinking to the bottom. Enjoy your GoPro and make some awesome videos with it!

The Amazing GoPro

The Amazing GoPro

The GoPro.
A handy little tool that makes you a hero apparently, never heard of it? Well that’s why you’re reading this! The GoPro is a small little camera that is used to film sports and all kinds of things. It is very handy if you want to make films. The GoPro is a very small camera but don’t be put off by its size, the GoPro has amazing quality and is also waterproof and very durable.

I use a GoPro myself. The GoPro has hundreds of capabilities, what I like about it is I can use it in surfing. When I go surf I stick on the GoPro (properly) and head out into the water. I get some really good shots and its allot of fun making a surf movie about yourself or even with your friends. The GoPro can even be used to mess around. Stick it on your dog, use it in your pool, and dip it in your cereal or even in your toilet! When using the GoPro in surfing if you’re not riding a wave that’s capable of barreling or you’re not capable of pulling into a barrel then you might want to face the camera away from yourself. But if the wave does barrel get ready for some amazing barrel videos.

I recently got a GoPro and its really fun to use. The only problem is having to set it up before every wave can be quite time consuming. You might miss the wave just to set up your GoPro and it can be quite a nuisance! Overall the GoPro is a great tool to use and can make some awesome videos!

Who Inspired Me To Be The Man I Am Today?

Who Inspired Me To Be The Man I Am Today…

Many people for many different reasons in fact inspired me along the way of my life. Surfing and school were a huge influence on my life and the people I interacted with were a huge inspiration to the things I currently do in my life.

I was mainly inspired and influenced to do things in my life in a negative way. The only way someone would push me to do something was if I was on the verge of failing. Like school. I used to not care and only do the least amount of work possible to pass. It used to be bad. But nowadays I’m starting to pick myself up with schoolwork, realizing reality and how hard it is. My Dad always told me “Django you better study up or else you’ll fail in school!” or things like “Django I’m getting all these letters about you not doing homework and distracting the class”. I always wouldn’t really give a damn thinking that maybe if I just let the heat cool down everyone would forget about the things that happened. It’s not that simple, and now I know. In my previous school I wasn’t doing good and I always used to look at school as an obstacle in order to have fun with my friends or go on the Internet. I would try to get my homework or schoolwork done fast so I could have more time to talk to my friends or hang out etc. Still at this point none of the words people told me trying to tell me to step it up had any impact on me.
My parents and teachers started telling me I was going to be a failure or not going to excel or exceed in life. That’s when I began to step it up in schoolwork as well as life. I wanted to prove to them that I could be somebody, that I could do well in life and had a good job. Only when I was threatened or challenged did I get any motivation to do something. It was to prove that someone wrong. I wanted to show them what I was capable of. Nowadays I still try hard in school and everywhere else to show those people what I am capable of. In a sense you could say my motivation is revenge.

In the surfing world I grew up with my self. The only one to push me to surf was my dad I never had friends to go surf with it was always my dad who made me start surfing. When I began I didn’t like surfing. I was always scared of waves and I would see surfing as a chore to do with my dad. But I began to be able to surf a bit better I could stand up on my own and catch green waves instead of white wash. I then started to surf Padang right. A small right-hander across the famous Padang. It was always small there but it was something I could handle at an early age. At that break I met some friends there who lived in the Bukit area. And from then on I always surfed with them, training and surfing bigger and better waves but they were much more serious about than I was. I would mainly surf to hang out with my friends or just play around in the water. Now as I’m growing up with these guys I’m watching them pull airs and huge snaps. Some of my friends even have sponsors. What I wanted to do was be as good as my friends at surfing. I tried to learn airs and do big tricks but it never came to me but then I began surfing bigger than my friends, I began to always sit deeper than them and take bigger waves.
With the bigger waves a new world of surfing opened up to me. Barrels where the apple of my eye in the surf world. At that point I knew what I could be better at than any of my friends. I would always push myself to surf bigger waves and face my fears. Now I’m the best in my gang of friends at riding barrels and getting tubed. My inspiration of being the surfer I am today was because I was always the underdog of my surfer gang. I was always the one who could do the least tricks, who was always scared of getting bigger waves but then I heard my friends talking about me not being able to barely do anything at surfing. So I wanted to show them my skill. I started surfing by myself to get better. I started surfing with my dad who surfs bigger waves than other people. I trained hard. When I came back to my friends I sat the deepest in the water and caught bigger waves. Now I have my own best feature out of the group.

That’s what motivates me the most, wanting to prove to people what I can really do, my true power. I want to prove them my skill when they look down upon me…

My Top 5 Wave Spots In Bali

My Top 5 wave spots in Bali
5 – Niko
Niko is a really good wave that offers some great barrels. Niko is a right-hander wave and has some gnarly barrels. Niko is mainly surfable from October to mid March because of the seasons and their winds. Niko is an awesome wave and is pretty rip-able but when it’s big it gets really heavy and can hold you under water for quite some time. But the price is worth the pay. At low tide it can get a bit risky but the wave becomes even better at a lower tide.
Problems with the wave:
The wave is great but the problem is its extremely long waiting period. It takes about six months before the wave can get into its right conditions.

4 – DreamLand
Dreamland is an awesome wave because it offers so many wave spots to surf at. There are two main breaks further out to sea. There is a left and a right. Both these waves are separated by a channel that they break into. Dreamland is a really mellow wave and whether the tide is low or high the water is always deep. The Wave needs a mid or low tide for it to work properly. On huge swells the wave becomes one and becomes a huge long left. DreamLand also has many little waves that break on the shore. These waves are much more fun for kids or beginner surfers who aren’t that experienced.
Problems with the wave:
The wave as good as it sounds is actually not very good for doing snaps and carves because the wave is extremely fat and you have so much speed on the wave. But if you’re good enough you could pull some serious air. Another problem is the beach. Until recently the beach was over taken by Jakarta. Now there are too many tour busses and tourists coming in to see the beach that it has become NightmareLand!

3 – Bingin
Bingin is a great surf spot that offers a wide variety of maneuvers and barrel riding tricks. This wave is a left-hander. Bingin requires a medium swell for it to be fun because when its small it doesn’t break and when it’s too big the wave will just max out and close out. But when bingin is good it’s the place to be. Bingin offers a fun barrel but when its not big enough it’s a great wave to rip up and pull some airs.
Problems with the wave:
Although Bingin is a great wave when the tide is low and the swell is big the water sucks up at the beginning of the wave and the end. The end of the wave is called stop signs because it gets deadly shallow and closes out there. Another problem is the entire crowd. It has a lot of people there but not as much as other spots. It can sometimes become a nuisance.

2 – Uluwatu
Uluwatu is an amazing wave and offers three different wave spots to choose from. There is Temples, Peak and Race-Tracks. I mainly surf down at racetracks because of its barrel but all other spots are really good as well. Uluwatu is one of the reasons why most surfers come to Bali. On all size swells uluwatu can be a really good wave whether it’s 2 foot or 10 foot. Uluwatu is a left-hander wave. When big you’ll need a gun to ride some of the waves that come through at Uluwatu.
Problems with the wave:
The main problem for everyone at Ulu’s is the crowd in the water. There are about 100 people in the water all together every day and it takes about 15 minutes or even 30 minutes for someone to get a wave. There’s a lot of hassling and people dropping in on waves. Another problem there are the jelly fish. When spawning season comes around (summer) there are hundreds and hundreds of stinging jellyfish in the water. They all come to Uluwatu’s reef to spawn and grow up there till the wind switches and blows them back out to sea. The third problem about this wave is the extremely strong current in front of the cave entrance. You need to plan your entry before going in or else you might get swept over to the next beach and coming back is hell of a paddle.

1 – Padang Padang
Padang in my opinion is a world-class wave. Hundreds of surfers come to this spot every year just to get a taste of its deadly beauty. Padang Padang is a left-hander wave and it is one of the greatest barrel waves ever. Every year Ripcurl hosts a competition at this spot. All of the greatest surfers from around the world gather to partake in this amazing barrel riding competition, the Ripcurl Padang Padang Cup.
Problems with the wave:

Although the wave is the greatest here in Bali it does require a bigger swell for it to work properly. It can take weeks or months for Padang to get into high gear. Another factor is its deadly low tides. When Padang gets to tides like 0.3 or 0.1’s it can get very dangerous at the spot especially on bigger swells. I hang out on the beach allot and I’ve seen people come in with cracked skulls and backs skinned to the bone. But when it’s low tide the wave does look allot better than it would be at high tide. Hence its dangerous beauty.
